Airport Express and Thomson DCM476

Long story short - my Apple Airport Express router only works with the Thomson DCM476 modem if the Airport Express is set to "Bridge Mode".

As I understand it, this mode lets the modem assign the router an IP. The default setting on the router is DHCP and NAT mode which results in the router assigning itself a 169.X.X.X IP address. In that mode, it seems the modem and router do not speak to one another.

So for the moment, I have access to the Internet using bridge mode. However, the router will only allow access to 1 device in bridge mode. If I want to use something else, I need to power down and restart the device with which I want to connect. Frustration.

I've been through the ringer waiting on hold for this problem. Can someone guide me through correcting the settings on either the modem/router to make things copasetic here?

Rogers router (teksavvy has to use it) is remembering the MAC address from your main computer.

Set your airport back up into normal mode (as a router). Then turn it off. Reset the cable modem, (While the modem is powered on, push and hold the reset button on the back for 12 seconds, then release. You should see the front panel lights do a little dance at around the 10 second mark, and immediately after you release the button.) Once the modem is back looking normal, turn your airport express router back on.

This should get the MAC address to release from the server (hopefully), and then your router should pickup a real address and start working normally.

Edit: If this doesn't work, then not sure what to say maybe the DHCP in the airport express doesn't like the Rogers/Teksavvy servers? As far as I am aware the modem isn't a router, so it shouldn't be doing anything other than transporting the signals across.
Edit2: Also if you can do a DHCP release on your main computer (while it is online with the router in bridge mode that might also help to release the address if it is stuck). Do a DHCP release/ and or disable the NIC, then power the cable modem down, reset your router back into router mode. Then unplug everything from the cable modem, reset the cable modem, and/or wait 20-30 minutes, double check your airport is in router mode (dhcp), then turn everything back on Cable modem first, wait for sync then turn on router, then computer and everything should be working...
